Manny’s Moments
For over 3 decades, Manny Amadi has called Margate home, bringing to his photography a perspective shaped by both his British Nigerian heritage and his deep familiarity with the rhythms of everyday coastal life. A self-taught photographer, Manny has spent the past eight years honing his craft through the practice of street photography…a discipline rooted in patience, attentiveness and the art of observation.
His lens gravitates towards the subtleties of human behaviour: a fleeting hand gesture, the trace of a smile, the furrow of a brow, or the unguarded humour of a chance encounter. He is equally drawn to the interplay of light and shadow across urban streets, recognising how these elements transform the ordinary into something poetic. What emerges from his work is not just documentation but an intimate portrait of the human condition - moments of resilience, joy and connection captured in real time. His photographs reflect a sensitivity to people’s stories revealing how life unfolds in small, unassuming gestures. Whether it is the laughter shared between friends, the solitude of a passer-by or the quiet drama of light cutting across a pavement, his images remind us of the beauty in the overlooked.
