Tavira is a premier destination for discovering traditional and contemporary Portuguese azulejos (ceramic tiles), with several dedicated studios and shops showcasing hand-painted work. The town's architecture itself serves as a gallery, where traditionally tiled houses line the cobbled streets.

I discovered this shop/studio showcasing hand printed ceramic tiles. This woman has been here for over 20 years.

Because each piece is individually crafted, no two tiles are exactly the same, creating a "mini masterpiece" on any surface.
