In street photography, a foreground element is an object or person in the immediate front of the camera that helps create depth, context, and a sense of scale for the main subject, which is typically located further back in the scene.

Foreground interest can be used to enhance an image’s message, to define a particular point of view or perspective, or to pinpoint your personal interest in a subject or a group of people interacting in a scene.
